Welcome to Park View!

Our vision is for the Park View community to utilize 21st Century Skills to provide a pathway to literacy for all students to reach their goals in all core subjects through the end of 6th Grade. These 21st Century skills are known as the 4 C's - collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking and these skills are identified by the business community, educational leaders, and policy makers as the skills to best prepare our students for a globalized workforce.

When you are on the Park View campus you will see students engaged in these 21st Century skills in classrooms set up to practice cooperative learning.  The instructional model gives the students the much needed opportunities to build knowledge, process information, learn procedures, think critically, and present information through interacting with others.  Weekly team building and class building in our classes also make our rooms safe spaces for students to openly share ideas.  Not only do the students experience collaboration - the Park View parents can experience it as well through attendance at monthly School Site Council (SSC) meetings and or English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meetings!  All school improvement meetings utilize cooperative learning structures as well to support the teacher's use of these skills in their classrooms.

Students and staff are always encouraged to show their PAWS: Pride, Attitude, Work Ethic, and Safety whenever they are on campus or representing Park View Prep out in the community.  In times when PAWS are seen - WE CELEBRATE!!  In times when our PAWS are not seen, we intervene and teach.  PAWS are an essential part of being a Park View Panther.

Park View Preparatory has a strong community of support for the students.  Extra curricular opportunities include a robust Extended Learning Program that provides opportunities for students to engage in targeted academic support as well as enrichment activities like Robotics, E-Sports, Chorus, Junior Olympics, Journalism, and Digital Creation.  Combine these with a targeted focus on phonics and phonemic awareness, comprehension, organization of ideas, and writing instruction, you will see our panthers thrive.

I am extremely excited for this journey with each and every member of the Park View Preparatory community.  I want to thank you for allowing the entire Park View Staff to be a part of your child's educational journey.

Sincerely,
Brandon Spalding
Principal
Park View Preparatory

Our Foundation: A Focus on Literacy, Positive Behavior, and Cooperative Learning

Park View Preparatory has a focus in increasing literacy through the use of the 5 Pillars of Literacy.  Park View teachers are trained to be literacy experts with training in phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary.  Each and every student at Park View Prep is provided essential instruction in these 5 Pillars in order to create a strong foundation of learning for their academic career and beyond.

Park View utilizes the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) to create our PAWS - Prinde Attitude Work Ethic and Safety, which guide student, staff, and visitor behavior while on campus or representing Park view Prep.  Each and every person on campus should be showing PAWS when interacting with students, staff, or visitors in order to show that we are a community and we work to positively support one another and to provide teaching and redirection as needed.

Park View integrates Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures throughout the day. The goal of cooperative learning is to make sure students are engaged in the content they are taught and to learn in a fun, safe environment.

Our teachers create classrooms which encompass the 7 Keys to cooperative learning:

  1. Teams
  2. ClassBuilding
  3. TeamBuilding
  4. Management
  5. Social Skills
  6. Principles
  7. Structures
